I welcome you to the Rushmere Volunteer Fire Department. We are a small department that consist of 25 Firefighters, a Ladies Auxiliary, and Support Services personnel. Together, we provide safe and efficient service to Northern Isle of Wight County. Our department also provides services to Surry County, as the second due company to Surry Nuclear Power Station. We made a commitment, on March 23rd, 1991, to provide the best services within our capabilities.
Today we are able to provide Fire Suppression, Vehicle Rescue, Water Rescue, Hazardous Material Operations, and Fire Prevention to the Rushmere community. I take pride in leading this department and ensuring that we honor the commitment to our community. I believe that in order for our department to succeed, we need personnel that are dedicated and focused on the goal of providing Rushmere and the surrounding communities with the best services, within our capabilities. The fire services is evolving and that requires our personnel to be highly trained and able to respond with the best equipment. As a volunteer organization, we must work hard and diligently to keep up with the evolution of the fire service. This includes fundraising to purchase the latest equipment and apparatus for fire suppression.
Our department has a long history of providing quality service and fire prevention programs to the community. We stand committed to expanding on this tradition in our future endeavors through community relations and enhancing the delivery of all services.
In closing, we remain positioned to respond to your needs with professionalism, compassion, integrity, and respect.
